The Prime Big Deal Days are finished. Over and out, done and dusted. We can all relax now until Black Friday comes barrelling in, of course. Amazon wasn’t the only retailer with graphics cards deals and there are still plenty out there for you to pick up your next gaming PC upgrade for less. As always, we’ve still kept our eyes out for the best deals and highlighted them below, and we’ll continue to collate the top offers in our early Black Friday graphics card deals page.
The prices we’ve seen in the recent sales are likely to be a good indicator as to what to expect with Black Friday. I don’t think there will be any major surprises in store , as there aren’t any new GPUs coming out to push prices down on older models. But you never know, one or two retailers may have kept something back to help stand out from the crowd.
As always though, we’re going to be picky as to which deals are worth it. We won’t try to justify buying a 16-series or 20-series card in 2023, as they’re just too outdated and don’t offer the value for money anymore. There are still some good deals to be found on last-gen GPUs and we’re starting to see the odd offer on some current-gen cards.

The RX 6600 is a quality 1080p GPU now that its price creeps ever lower. At the sub-$200 point, we’re getting a budget graphics card that delivers high frame rates in the latest games at top 1080p graphics presets. At least AMD and Intel are bringing GPU pricing down, eh?

The Intel discrete graphics cards have only gotten more relevant since their inauspicious launch. With successive driver releases increasing performance and now a significant price drop, the A750 is now one of the most tempting budget GPUs around. It’s a bit more power hungry than AMD’s RX 6600 but is a super capable 1080p card knocking both RTX 3050 and RTX 3060 out of the value GPU stakes.

With stock of the RX 6600 XT starting to dwindle it seems like the faster RX 6650 XT is taking its place as one of the best budget GPUs around. It’s an 8GB GPU, with effectively the same core specs as the RX 6600 XT, but with a little higher clock speed boost.

As the budget baby of the RDNA 3 family, the RX 7600 faces a lot of competition. Not just from Intel and Nvidia, but from AMD’s previous generation of cards too. At this price, though, its almost $100 cheaper than the RX 6700 XT and in some games, it performs nearly as well. Dare I say that it’s a little bit dull?

The RX 6700 XT is still our favorite mid-range gaming GPU, competing with Nvidia’s regularly more expensive RTX 3060 Ti. This is the cheapest version we’ve yet found and comes with a solid, dual-fan cooler and a decent price tag.

A Radeon RX 6800 vanilla for $400? Get. Out. People were paying four of five times this much for one of these during the height of the pandemic and crypto craze. This 16GB, 256-bit or a pathetic 128-bit 8GB RTX 4060 Ti for the same price? Forget it.

This is the cheapest we’ve ever seen the 6800 XT. OK, the new 7800 XT is very slightly faster and only a tiny bit more expensive. But this is still a whole lotta GPU for the money.

Ignore the inflated pre-discount selling price, the fact that this is an RTX 4070 retailing for below the standard Nvidia MSRP for the card is the thing to really pay attention too. This is nearly RTX 3080 performance but with all those nice RTX 40 features. And, heck, it’s branded up with the best version of Spiderman. Psyche!

Seeing a bunch of RX 7900 XTs selling for well less than MSRP is a welcome sight. What we like about PowerColor is that it should run quieter than your average RX 7900 XT. We all could do with a little less noise from our PC.

This is a straightforward card from Zotac, with a minor clock boost over the reference spec, but comes with a really neat looking cooler. The same design works well on the beefier chips, so I’m not concerned about how effective it’ll be with an RTX 4070 Ti. It’s only a minor saving over the base $799 reference price, but is still a great alternative if you couldn’t pick up a Founders Edition card.

Just like with the RTX 4080, it’s hard to find AMD’s RX 7900 XTX discounted down below its MSRP price. But the rare deal can be found and we’ll happy take any money knocked off the price of a high-end GPU. The Radeon RX 7900 XTX is stupidly fast and PowerColor’s build quality is excellent.

Look at that! An RTX 4080 is discounted below its MSRP price. Honestly, we’ll take whatever wins we can get when it comes to high-end GPUs, even if that does still make it far more than the card should be sold at. The RTX 4080 is a serious gaming card, though, and Zotac’s card looks great with that curvy cooler.

The Intel discrete graphics cards have only gotten more relevant since their inauspicious launch. With successive driver releases increasing performance and now a significant price drop, the A750 is now one of the most tempting budget GPUs around. It’s a bit more power hungry than AMD’s RX 6600 but is a super capable 1080p card knocking both RTX 3050 and RTX 3060 out of the value GPU stakes.

As the budget baby of the RDNA 3 family, the RX 7600 faces a lot of competition. Not just from Intel and Nvidia, but from AMD’s previous generation of cards too. At this price, though, its almost $100 cheaper than the RX 6700 XT and in some games, it performs nearly as well. Dare I say that it’s a little bit dull?

This is the cheapest real RTX 3060 we’ve found today, and although it doesn’t have the highest clock speed around, it won’t make a difference in games. There are cheaper 8GB versions, so make sure to keep your eyes out for that. They have the same core spec, memory aside, but that means far lower memory bandwidth.

AMD rules the graphics card market’s mainstream and budget ends, and the RX 6700 XT is the best GPU at this price point. The RTX 3060 Ti is still nearly £50 more expensive than the RX 6700 XT and is a little bit slower in many games. Its popularity means supply is somewhat limited so you might need to wait a bit until its back in stock.

Ignore the inflated pre-discount selling price, the fact that this is an RTX 4070 retailing for below the standard Nvidia MSRP for the card is the thing to really pay attention too. This is an RTX 3080 with benefits. It’s mostly quicker than the previous-gen card, and comes with the excellent Frame Generation tech, too.

At launch the RX 7900 XT was far too close to the RX 7900 XTX in price, and not close enough in terms of performance. Thankfully, the pricing has dropped dramatically for this second-tier RDNA 3 card, making it a far more tantalising prospect than before.

Performance comparison
Every new GPU generation offers new features and possibilities. But rasterized rendering is still the most important metric for general gaming performance across the PC gaming world. Sure, Nvidia GPUs might well be better at the ray tracing benchmarks they more or less instigated, but when it comes to standard gaming performance AMD’s latest line up can certainly keep pace.
It’s also worth noting that the previous generation of graphics cards do still have something to offer, with something like the GTX 1650 Super able to outpace a more modern RTX 3050 in most benchmarks.
We’re not saying you should buy an older card in 2023—AMD’s budget RX 7000-series is a much better deal today—but it’s worth knowing where your current GPU stacks up, or just knowing the lie of the land. But there is also the fact there will be gaming rigs on sale with older graphics cards over the next few days, and if they’re cheap enough they may still be worth a punt as a cheap entry into PC gaming.
We’ve benchmarked all the latest GPUs of this generation, and have tracked their performance against the previous generation in terms of 3DMark Time Spy Extreme scores. Where we don’t have the referential numbers for an older card we have used the average index score from the UL database.
